Here's my most recent Art Journal page. It is simple, but effective. It was pretty easy to make, and the results [in my opinion] are stunning.
First, I colored this little girl up with my Inktense pencils. She is by Penny Black and is called "Gift of Love." I wanted to keep the colors winter-y, and not Christmas-y, so I stayed with cool colors. I used the colors: Oak, Deep Indigo, Mauve, Spring Green, Willow, Dark Chocolate, Scarlet Pink, and Tan. If you love coloring, you'll have a blast with her! |
Here I show the mask that I created, and then the scene with the mask in place. The mask makes the girl look like she is in front of the trees and gives a sense of dimension. For the further off trees, I didn't re-ink the stamp so it would produce a lighter image (called second generation stamping). |
Next, I use my Distress Inks to create the sky and the snow. I went with warmer colors to contrast with her clothes. The inks were really easy to blend on this paper.
Ah, and the reveal! I love seeing the results after the masks are lifted!
I mixed some of the white Perfect Pearls with water and flicked it over the page. Love that shimmer! Perfect Pearls have a binder in them, so when they get wet, they bind to whatever surface they're on. That wasn't enough, so I added some white Enamel Accents.
And this is the final result! See? It was super easy! I think coloring her was the longest step for the whole page. I decided that I liked it too much this way that I wouldn't add a sentiment.
