I'm going to start out by saying I don't celebrate Halloween, but I had bought this stamp set... so it was time to use it. Why Halloween themed? I blame AmyR (her youtube here) cause she's been doing a Halloween series on her channel of just cute Halloween cards. I had to get in on the action.
I had started with a background that I was stuck on for a LONG time (since last year) that I made with white tissue paper that I sprayed with Dylusions purple and blue colors. I had tried stamping on this with a very detailed stamp, but since the tissue paper was crumpled which made the paper textured, it didn't come out too well. So... onto plan B. I also painted over that with a wash of white paint mixed with water to tone down the colors a little (and to cover up the inky mishap) and to get them to blend. Then, I was stuck.
Recently, I pulled out the stamp set called Ooga Booga and just wanted to color those with the alcohol markers. I cut them out and free cut out some curves for the ground layers. I had inked those with distress inks, keeping with the three colors: purple, blue, and pink. I had decided that the ground layers needed more visual interest, so I glued the Tim Holtz tissue paper on top and inked over that to add contrast between the layers.

I fiddled with the placement a bit and knew I wanted some trees in the background, so I used the distress inks and a little bit of the silver ink with the stencil. I also wanted a cool kinda creepy house in the background, so I did the best I could with what I had. I used the church from the Wedding stamp set, and just cut off the steeple to make a house. I used the fence that came with the Ooga Booga set and curved it on my acrylic block. Because it is clear, it is super easy to bend and to line up with the previous part of the fence.
I wanted my characters to stand out and look magical, so I used the sparkly Mod Podge to glue them down and cover them. It has an awesome purpley glitter in it, so it matched perfectly. Since it has a few different color flecks, I expect the glitter will match up to almost any project. I also spread some over the sky where I wanted my moon to be then scraped it with the texture tool to make the cool wavy lines. I love me some texture!
To "finish it off" and to add more glitz, I embossed some silver embellishments and some stars. I say that in quotes, because, an art journal page never truly is finished in my book. ;)
